Storefront Report: Silver Lake apparel store opens in an out-of-sight location

When Eileen Burke moved to Los Angeles from Charlotte, she looked across the city for a spot to reopen her apparel store focused on affordable clothes for young women and teens. She finally found a space in the 3300 block of Sunset Boulevard  behind a bike shop and a vintage fashion store.  Walk down a narrow passageway and through a small patio and you will find her small store, Eileen, where dresses, blouses, scarves and other items are priced no higher than $49.  Said Burke via email:

I‘m pretty casual myself, so the clothing is fun and comfy, nothing too formal or fancy.  I update my website with pics of the new goods.  Typically I buy 2 smalls, 2 meds, 1 large.  Guests like to see what’s arriving day to day so they have a chance to pop in before it sells.

Eileen is currently open Wednesday – Sunday from 11  a.m. to 6 pm.

  1. Such a cute spread! I’m looking forward to checking it out. Until then, are you planning on having an online shop?

  2. Fatties — that is, anyone over 110 lbs — need not apply! Eileen doesn’t want your business!

  3. thanks for the responses!

online shop? i had one when i was on the east coast but disbanded it for the transition. we’ll get there again!

over 110 pounds? well, i’m over 110 pounds and can wear all but a few slim skirts from the collection. it’s difficult to accommodate all body shapes and types in 400 square feet.
