Echo Park resident warns neighbors of attempted car theft

NeighborhoodWatchLogo.JPGAn Echo Park resident named Paloma said someone attempted to steal her car on Friday afternoon. Here are the details via email:

I just wanted to inform residents of Echo Park that yesterday between 4 and 5 pm on Lucretia Ave (behind Delilah’s Bakery) someone tried to steal my car by hotwiring it. Luckily, they left before they could finish the job. I want people to be safe and aware in the Echo Park neighborhood.

  1. Why won’t someone steal my car???

  2. This time of the year brings car break-ins and theft, as we get closer to the holidays. Please report these occurrences to LAPD because they never seem to have much documentation on and don’t think its much of a problem in our area. I have lived here 13 years and have had my car broken into several time, & see break-ins yearly. I just want to point out that the LAPD only documents if we report these occurrences & you have to take your car downtown for finger printing if you want it done…. they will not automatically take a report or finger print. I encourage everyone to report & get finger printing done, even if they don’t take anything. It’s the only way to get people caught.
