Found: Male pit bull mix in Elysian Park

Submitted by Michelle F.

Found male, not neutered, beige and white pit bull mix (maybe part English bull dog).   He was found without a collar in Elysian Park.  He has white fur on his front paws, chin, and chest.  He has a few small scars on his right cheek, a small pink patch on the top of his nose, and clipped ears. He has very mild mannered and just wanted to snuggle when he was found.  He is currently at the North Central Animal Shelter located at: 3201 Lacy Street Los Angeles 90031.

  1. Hi Michelle! Do you have this boy’s impound number? I rescue a lot of animals in the ‘hood and have found many pitbulls and pitbull mixes in Elysian Park. The “owners” have never come forward and unfortuntely pitbulls have a hard time making it out of north central shelter. Please, if you have the impound number, send it to me and I will forward to the animal rescue networks! Thanks!

Maybe you can help – I live near Elysian Park and there are so many strays..but also a ton of people who walk their dogs off leash in the park, sometimes the dog and owner are not in sight of each other. I was walking my small dog in Elysian Park this morning and saw what I’m pretty sure was a stray pit bull puppy, but I was afraid for my own dog’s safety so I scooped my dog up and kept walking. What is the right thing to do in this situation? Do you recommend I call animal control, humane society, one of the rescue networks you mentioned? I’m totally ignorant about this, any help you have would be appreciated!
