Tree takes a toll on Echo Park furniture store

More trees coming down in Echo Park. The employees of Casablanca Furniture in Echo Park arrived this morning to find that a large eucalyptus tree had fallen on a corner of their  furniture store at Sunset Boulevard and Quintero Street, causing minor damage to a delivery truck parked next to the building. A city Bureau of Street Services employee who was on the scene this morning said it appeared that the street tree had been weakened by rot. Earlier this a month a pine street smashed into a parked car a few blocks away.

  1. Oh no! I’ve bought two mattresses from there, love that place!

  2. It’s the Ents. They’re striking back.

  3. it was windy when we dropped off our son to school this morning, but i didn’t realize it was *that* windy! does this mean Timewarner cable will be down again?

  4. Eucalyptus are particularly suseptable to collapsing like that because they are not native to the region and they have very shallow roots.

  5. I love how report on things like this Eastsider. Thank you!
