Look at what the wind blew in

Silver Lake blogger Diane Edwardson found this 1-1/2-inch long insect on the hood of a car on Friday following last week’s wind storm. What is it? After posting the question on her blog, an neighbor provided a possible answer: Leptoglossus zonatusThis inspect “leaf footed” bug  has an appetite for flowers as well as the fruit of  “many fruit, vegetable & field crops including, but not limited to citrus, tomatoes, guava, pomegranates, avocado, melons, corn & cotton,” said Edwardson. More bug photos and info on the Corralitas Red Car Property blog.

  1. i had a salamander find its way into my house after the winds.

  2. I see these all the time on my pomegranate tree. They can really mess your fruit up, so I catch them and feed them to my chickens.
