Power out in Echo Park*

DWP crews were working to repair downed power lines that have left about 3,400 DWP customers in Echo Park and Elysian Heights without power earlier this morning. The outage began at about 1:30 a.m. and appears  to have affected the area north of Sunset Boulevard and other sections of the neighborhood  A DWP customer service employees said she did not know when the power might be restored.

* Update: Power  had been restored to some areas by 3 a.m.

  1. This happened exactly when i Exited the 101 North Freeway exiting Glendale/Echo park, As I was Exiting All the lights went out and drove in the pitch black Echo park neighborhood. Then all of of sudden i saw two lightning bolts flash in the sky. i figured that’s what caused it. but not sure yet if that was the cause. I am just glad The Power is back it’s 3:31 am now. Goodnight…

  2. Now power is out in Boyle Heights since about 5AM…

  3. I saw one of those flashes, too, it looked to be above Sargent or Elysian Park. At first I thought it was lightening, but there was no sound associated with it

  4. Part of El Sereno are down for the count.

  5. Power out in Cypress Park since 10am

  6. Happy to say our power outtage response was 1000x faster then those other poor residents who had tree damage last week.

  7. Lightning, not “lightening.”
