Occupy Congress protestors to march through Echo Park

While Occupy movement protestors gather in Washington, D.C. today for an Occupy Congress protest, an Occupy Congress Solidarity March is scheduled to pass through Echo Park on Sunset Boulevard this afternoon as protestors head to the local office of Congressman Xavier Becerra district office Citibank building. It’s not clear how many demonstrators will show up for the march, which scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at Union Station,  or whether the protestors intend to remain on the sidewalk or march on the street. The Eastsider is checking with the city’s Department of Transportation to find out if any street closures are planned.

  1. Why does a congressman have an office in a bank building?

    • Is it mandated that he have an office some other place? He has been there for years. Really nice office.

      • Well,
It would seem to me that the TAX PAYER would be better served if the CONgress man would not spend tax dollars paying rent to a PRIVATE BANK. There seem to be plenty of vacant office space around the city of Los Angeles. Just ask the mayor, he seemed to have some free space available for the 99% ers. Or is it that Xavier Becerra needs his “nice office” to make those important super committee decisions we hear so little about. Once again, things don’t pass the smell test!

  2. March for Bourgeois Proletarian Wage and Benefit Opportunity; Sure ?
But leave Venice Beach and Melrose Blvd. were they belong.

  3. I don’t believe the bank actually owns the building, they are an anchor tenant and probably paid dearly to have their sign on the building.

  4. Bank does not own the building, I believe it’s owned by the church.
