Arc Light

Christian Aeschliman set his camera to a long exposure and turned an LAPD helicopter’s search light over Angeleno Heights into a kind of a thin, neon rainbow.  Aeschliman, on his Flickr site, said there are plenty of opportunities to capture such images:

My neighborhood has helicopters buzzing around overhead pretty much constantly. Sometimes they take a keen interest in something and do circles around it for 45 minutes – sometimes longer. Sometimes they like to stay still like the aerial equivalent of a fat security guard. If I didn’t already have a camera, I could have easily gone to the nearest Best Buy and come back in time for this picture.

  1. I think if they’re circling it’s an LAPD chopper, if they’re sitting still it’s TV.

  2. A little beauty injected into an ugly event. Nice.
