Fire damages Elysian Heights home

Elysian Heights residents awoke to the sounds of fire engines and the smell of smoke this morning after fire damaged a hillside bungalow.  No one was home at the time when the fire broke out at about 6 a.m. in the 1400 block of Avon Terrace, said LAFD Battalion Chief Greg Gibson. It’s not clear what caused the blaze but it appeared to start outside of the rear section of the home and spread into the attic. Fire crews had to run hoses up the narrow and steep street  but Gibson said the blaze was quickly extinguished.

  1. Thought I recognized that place. Sold in June 2010.

  2. Wow, $471k for 864 sqft, and 1 parking spot.

  3. Our family is particularly sad about this. This was our house up until late 2006, when we sold it to move to Sierra Madre. We have since relocated for work, but this house holds a very special place in our hearts. Very sad.
