Highland Park PTA teams up with market to support school

Figueroa Produce and the PTA at Aldama Elementary will hold a one-day fundraiser next month that will save shoppers money while supporting the Playworks Program at the Highland Park school. Monica Alcaraz with the Aldama PTA explains what to expect during “Figueroa Produce Market Presents Aldama Day”

We are calling the Event “Figueroa Produce Market Presents Aldama Day”, it is scheduled for Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Anyone that mentions Aldama Elementary will not only receive a 5% discount on their purchase, but will also support Aldama as the schools PTA will receive 20% of the proceeds generated that day.

The Aldama Elementary PTA will use the proceeds from this fundraiser to support its Playworks Program. Each year the PTA has to raise $25,500 to keep the program going. Playworks has become an important part of the schools culture and has had a tremendous impact on helping to reduce conflicts on the playground. Playworks provides an unparalleled opportunity to foster the physical, social and emotional development of our children. Exclusively working on-site with low-income schools such as Aldama Elementary, engineering a powerful system of play that is making a daily difference is our children’s lives. It is even more important as next years schools budget is being cut once again and we are looking to raise money for basic schools supplies to offset the budgets cuts.
