Highland Park residents warn neighbors of burglaries

Many of the Highland Park residents who live on Abbott Place returned to their homes on Monday night to find red flyers with the words “BURGLAR ALERT”  posted up and down the steep street. The flyer notified residents of a Sunday night burglary in the middle of the block. That burglary took place shortly after Abbott Place residents called police after seeing a group of  people illegally enter a vacant house on the south end of Abbott Place near Avenue 53.  The most recent LAPD crime maps do not show any recent burglaries or break ins on Abbott but residents are apparently worried.  Said the red flyer:

We ask that we protect ourselves and loved ones by pulling together and reporting suspicious person/s. If anyone suspects that a person is acting weird and is unfamiliar, please notify the LAPD N. East Div. Lets help keep our community and children safe.
