Silver Lake elementary holds spring open house

Micheltorena Elementary in Silver Lake will hold campus tours  and a presentation on Thursday morning (April 19) to give residents an opportunity to learn more about the school. A posting on the school website provided some details:

We will meet in the Parent Center for coffee and bagels at 8:45am, then set out on the tour, led by Micheltorena parents. We will end the tour in the library for a Q+A session with Principal Furfari.

Micheltorena has been the center of a heated controversy over a proposal that would allow a charter school to operate out of some of the Silver Lake school’s classrooms. School staff and supporters said that plan would undermine efforts to offer additional programs and leave room for future growth.

Thursday’s school tours and program begin at 8:45 a.m.

  1. Too bad Mayberry Elementary did not receive this type of coverage. They had their tour this morning.

  2. I was just at Micheltorena this evening, putting together folders for the tour with a roomful of parents. We were in the newly-renovated parent room. Gorgeous! So much is happening at the school… it’s an exciting time to get involved and support your neighborhood school.

  3. I attended the tour. It is impressive!

  4. I just took the tour. A lot of very nice excited parents involved in making Micheltorena great! I just wish the teachers and faculty were as excited as them.
