The high price of York Boulevard

Photo from NAI Capital

The sale of the former Verdugo Pet shop on  York Boulevard and what kind of tenant will move into the Highland Park storefront has generated  a lot of attention on The Eastsider as well as Patch, with readers making their case for everything from an Indian restaurant to an art supply shop.  It’s still not certain who will move into the approximately 3,200-square-foot space next to The York but who ever rents it will need some pretty deep pockets, based on a recent rental listing.  The new owners are asking for $2.5o cents a square a foot or more than $8,000 a month in rent.  The listing by the brokerage CBRE touts the location on the gentrifying York Boulevard strip:

Trendy revitalized neighborhood with scenic architecture located in the heart of The New Highland Park on York Boulevard

Of course, in addition to paying $8,000 in rent, the new tenants will probably have to pay to renovate the place.

Whatever it is, they’ll either have to have other locations, or sell liquor to make that rent. My best guess, an Umami Burger. They’re starting to spread themselves out.

  2. Umami burger would be awesome!!

  3. How about an exact mirrored replica of the York next door? Call it Kory Eht. They could sell REEB and ENIW. I hear the FEHC makes great DOOF!
OR how about a baaaaaaaad comedy club? You guys have been great! Good night!

  4. $8k/month? Um this IS still HP, not Beverly Hills! And revitalized doesn’t exactly describe what I would call it around here…more like a trendy STRIP of HP.
