One injured in Lincoln Heights shooting

An afternoon shooting in Lincoln Heights left a 17-year-old injured and prompted the lock down of nearby schools and the closure of streets as officers searched for a suspect. Police apprehended a 16-year-0ld male in connection with the shooting that took place at about 1:45 p.m. in the 2100 block of Keith Street.  The male victim was shot in the stomach or abdomen but is alive and in stable condition, according to Sgt. Rick Colombia at the LAPD Hollenbeck Division.  Colombia said he was not aware of a motive for the shooting or if it was gang related. An employee at nearby Lincoln High said the campus had been locked down but had reopened. Meanwhile, The Voice, on its Facebook page, said Gates Elementary had also been locked down.

    Yeah, because most 16 and 17 year old non-gang members carry guns.
