Eastside Property: Eagle Rock home with a mission

Photo from Redfin

While this 1924 Eagle Rock bungalow has undergone some remodeling over the years, the Ellenwood Place home that recently went up for sale still has many of its original features, from wood floors and moldings to some original kitchen cabinets. But perhaps the most prominent piece of the past in this home is the large living room fireplace covered mostly with simulated stonework and a large sculptural relief below the mantle. Look close enough and you will see the relief depicts a landscape image featuring a large church with two bell towers. If it looks familiar it maybe that the church is an image of the of Mission Santa Barbara, according to the Redfin listing

It looks like the relief is made from terra cotta tile but it’s hard to tell from the photo. But anyone willing to shell out $429,000 for this two-bedroom property makes sure any future renovations don’t tamper with the fireplace mantel.
