After operating on limited basis for several weeks, Delilah Bakery reopened its doors this week as part of a “soft opening”of the Echo Park bakery and cafe. There are cupcakes, of course, but also expect new items, including baguettes and rolls provided by Breadbar. The outdoor patio is back in business and new seating has been added inside. Also expect a grand reopening party on June 23.

- Algae – the green stuff you scrape off the sides of aquariums – has been turned into a gift item. Potted in Atwater Village is selling “mossquariums” that feature “living balls of spongy algae,” according L.A. at Home.
- A plachinta is a stuffed, Romanian-style flatbread that now being baked up at a new Glassell Park cafe and baker called Lemon Poppy Kitchen, reports Grub Street. You can get your plachinta – stuffed with bacon, sharp cheddar, black pepper or feta cheese and other fillings – topped off with an egg and served with a salad for breakfast.
- The same crew behind Bar Covell in Los Feliz and L&E Oyster Bar in Silver Lake have now branched out to Highland Park, where they have taken over the former Hermosillo Bar on York Boulevard. Grub Street said the new place – called Hermosillo – that features hard to find Mexican wines and selection of craft beers.
