Silver Lake’s Happy Foot/Sad Foot sign gets a tune up

An Eastsider reader was driving past the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Benton Way this morning when she noticed that Silver Lake’s  Happy Foot/Sad Foot sign had been removed and was sitting in the parking lot.  “Any word on what they’re doing with it?”  Do not fear for the Happy Foot/Sad Foot sign. It turns out the rotating foot clinic sign, a neighborhood landmark that has been mentioned in a few novels, was getting fixed, according to a foot clinic employee. Looks like the sign is prone to problems. It was only about tw0 years ago when the sign was last repaired.

  1. Thank you for posting this. I’d hate to see such a unique and wistful sign permanently removed.

  2. Yeah, the sign hasn’t been spinning for well more than a month now. Glad to see it’s being returned to its former rotational glory.

  3. … now please bring the MAGIC GAS sign back! :X

  4. That’s such a cute sign.

  5. Has anyone ever been to see the doctor there?

  6. I have been here once for toe nail surgery/removal. I don’t recall the Dr’s name but he was an Asian guy who was very friendly and made my experience comfortable. This was about four years ago. Overall it was a great experience. The doctor was always willing to help me find ways to make sure my insurance covered my costs. I had a somewhat high PPO Deductible at the time, I think upwards of $3000. He was pretty awesome in my experience.
