Federal agents raid Elysian Valley location

A heavily armed team of federal drug agents equipped with a battering ram raided a building in Elysian Valley and detained several people. Drug Enforcement Agency spokesman Jose Martinez said the agents served warrants at a location in the 2000 block of Blake Avenue and detained several people this morning but did not provide any more details. Meanwhile, in a related operation in Chatsworth, DEA agents also served warrants when they raided what is believed to be a small marijuana growing operation in the 10000 block of Independence Avenue, he said. One person who was on the scene in Elysian Valley this morning said he saw about 15 agents and officers with what looked like submachine guns raid a large, red metal-clad building on Blake Street.

  1. Was this in the middle of the night?

  2. I’m conflicted about these things. I don’t support the war on drugs, but I’m concerned about the abundance of pot shops near my house and people that I see getting stoned on the sidewalks.
