Jury finds 19-year-old guilty of murdering Silver Lake pizza deliveryman

A Superior Court jury today found a 19-year-old man guilty of second degree murder in last year’s fatal shooting of pizza deliveryman  and restaurant worker Juan David Vasquez Loma, reports CBS2.   Jose Beltran was found guilty of shooting Vasquez Loma on Silver Lake Boulevard in what police describe as an apparent case of road rage.  Vasquez Loma,  who worked as a busboy and waiter at El Chavo restaurant in addition to holding a second job at nearby Garage Pizza, died a week after the August 2011 shooting.  The Mexico City native was dropping off co-workers when he fired upon while driving on Silver Lake Boulevard.

The deadly incident began when Loma, 25-year-old Mexican immigrant,  passed Beltran’s as his car had come to a stop Micheltorena and Effie streets in Silver Lake.  Police last year said they believed that maneuver angered Beltran,  who pursued Loma’s truck down the hill to Silver Lake Boulevard, where the driver of the car pulled up alongside Loma’s truck and opened fire.

While the jury today found Beltran guilty of second-degree murder  he was found innocent of acting on behalf of a criminal gang, CBS2 said. Beltran is scheduled to be sentenced in November.

  1. Justice. Thanks for following up on this story.

  2. Wow that’s insane the sketch looked nothing like him but if ur there I guess ur treated the same.sad for both sides I’m sure he’ll b exonerated.I don’t know either side but I’m doing my research in these articles n news n oh well life goes on for one n another is just remembered..A lesson for the street kids .

  3. Pictured: A woman saddened by the regret of being a colossal failure as a parent.

    • Are you sure you read that right? The caption says that is the victim’s mother, not the mother of the criminal. How is it her fault that her son (who worked 2 jobs) was shot and killed on his way home from work by a raging murderer?

    • Stroker, apt handle for a person making such a vile and incorrect comment – eliminating the need to tell you to go – yourself.

  4. Justin just another hater I luv fans .being real look @ the sketch there’s a real murderer still on the loose the guy charged looks nothing like the sketch I’m not defending the kid just my opinion.Take a look at reports n sketches n the kind of weapon used in the murder. It’s sad for n innocent dude to b killed for nothing, hard worker as most latinos r .trying to make a living the right way.God bless his soul.Just my opinion JUST.IN..Wut this site is all about..

  5. this is an un fair act and people should really take a second look at everything from the start first of all that detective is a fraud he threaten those people to lie and accuse beltran he tried to do the same with other 2 witness but 1 of those witness was passenger with the actual killer that is on the run and hiding if beltran did it why didn’t he leave ?? and that sketch doesn’t look nothing like beltran !!

  6. I agree Jose Beltran isn’t the killer. I believe in his innocence. The one that is resposible for the death of Loma took of. Jose is willing to take a lie detector test detective Carillo. He admits to have done other things but not killing Loma . Joses friend is on the run. Who’s investigating this? Jose mother has paid a lot of money for the attorney on Jose defence. What has he done to proof his innocence. There is a reward for finding the killer of $50,000.00 . I agree with the unknown person. theres also a good reward, but I hope the truth comes to float and they can sue for the damages. Joses mother suffers as well as Lomas. Enough with injustice!!!
