Pricey political consultants, glossy mailers and pizza for volunteers. All these and other items have added up for the candidates running in Tuesday’s Council District 1 and Council District 13 elections. In fact, according to the most recent figures, nearly $2 million has been spent by the candidates and independent groups in the Council District 13 race, where a dozen candidates are running to succeed Eric Garcetti, who is termed out of office and running for mayor. Meanwhile in Council District 1, more than $1 million has been spent in the contest to replace termed out Councilman Ed Reyes. (Click on the link below for charts).

Despite the large sums of money spent so far, expect more dollars to be raised and spent in any run off elections. How much influence will $3 million have on the district voters? We will find out tomorrow.
