Boyle Heights stand off ends with shooting death of suspect

A carjacking suspect was shot and killed by sheriff deputies earlier this morning after the man barricaded himself in a vacant Boyle Heights apartment, according to L.A. Now and other news reports. The stand off ended at about 4 a.m. after authorities entered the apartment building in the 500 block of Fairview Avenue and fatally shot the suspect, who had carjacked a vehicle several hours earlier in East Los Angeles.  NBC reports that a SWAT team was engaged in a shoot out with the suspect after he had opened fire.
