It’s been more than 45 years since Elysian Park hosted what is said to have been Los Angeles’ first love-in, a 1960s era spectacle of 1960s flower power and proto-hipster youth culture. A reminder of this event is now up for grabs in the form of an L..A Love-In poster designed and signed by poster artist Gary Grimshaw. The orange, green and white poster currently up for sale at Classic Posters Auctions, with an estimated price of between $1,000 to $2,000.
What does one bring to a love-in? The poster for the L.A. Love In, which took place on Easter Sunday in 1967, suggests bells, flutes, flags, drums, flowers, tangerines, food, incense, candles and joy.
If you don’t want to spend between $1,000 to $2,000 for a piece of counterculture nostalgia you can always watch the video below showing a documentary of the Love-In created by Les Blank.
