East L.A. shootings leave two dead and one injured

Two separate shootings over night in East Los Angeles left two men dead and one injured, according to the L.A. Sheriffs Department.

The first shooting took place Thursday  at about 11:30 p.m. in the Nueva Maravilla public housing project, where one male victim was pronounced dead at the scene and another male was transported to a hospital for treatment.   About thirty minutes later, a second shooting  about 1-1/2 miles south in the 900 block of S. McDonnell Avenue left one man with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The LASD did not provide any further details about the incidents as of this morning, including any information as to what prompted the shooting or if they were connected.
