The man who was fatally stabbed during a fight on an Echo Park street early Sunday morning has been identified by police as 33-year-old Darrin Jeffries.

Homicide detective Julian Pere with the Rampart Division provided a few more details about the fatal stabbing that took on Sunday, May 19 at about 2:40 a.m. near Clinton and Waterloo streets across from the Dream Center:

 Two men were seen walking near the intersection of Waterloo and Clinton when they entered into an altercation which led to death of the victim.  The suspect was described as a male, Hispanic, wearing black shoes, black pants, and a black jacket with a hood.  The suspect fled east on Clinton to an unknown location.  The motive of the murder is not yet known.

Anyone with information, including surveillance videos showing an unknown male fleeing from that surrounding area,  is asked to contact Detective Pere at (213)484-3638.
