Storefront Report: Echo Park shops shift from antiques to animals

The Sunset Boulevard storefronts that once housed some antique shops on the western edge of Echo Park have been gutted and are awaiting a new tenant. But don’t expect another vintage dress shop or antique store to open here. Instead, the 3,200-square-foot space is going to become a veterinary clinic, according to building permits.

The permits do not provide any information about the owners of the clinic but they will find themselves located on a block that has in some respects gone to the dogs. The new clinic will be located between K9 Lofts – an upscale dog grooming, boarding and pet supply store  – and the West Coast headquarters for Peta, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

What other animal related business will move on to the block?  Pilates for your pets, perhaps?

  1. Hope they’re good and affordable! Kitty can be spared from her dreaded car rides!

  2. Does anyone know if Wells Tile and Antiques is re-opening at another location?

    • They moved a block east on sunset next to that crappy discount store and Pizza Buona. Better digs than what they had before IMO…

  3. They are open now :)… Mohawk Alley Animal Hospital http://www.mohawkalleyanimalhospital.com
