Storefront Report: Take a seat in Silver Lake’s new custom designed “pedicure thrones”

Custom pedicure thrones/Kure Spa

There’s no shortage of mani-pedi places in Silver Lake. But into this crowded arena comes a new player, Kure Spa on Glendale Boulevard.  Kure opened earlier this month in a jetblack, 1,800 square-foot storefront  across the street from an existing mani-pedi salon.

In an effort to set itself apart, the modern, minimalist interior of Kure features a dozen, custom-designed “pedicure thrones” with “stainless steel sinks that help to eliminate the risk of bacteria growth commonly associated with pedestrian whirlpool jet chairs,” according to a Kure press release.

In addition to manicures and pedicures, Kure will offer  skin care, waxing and massage and services, according to owner Thien Ho, who had  previously operated another Silver Lake nail salon.

“Whenever possible, we use all natural products such as our Grape Seed and Lavender Essential Oil Soaks and Botanical Epson Salt Tea Soak,” she said via email.

  1. Thanks for the article, Eastsider! Can’t wait to try this place, as Harmony Nails (across the street) has been going downhill for a long time…..not to mention their annoying policy of tacking on a service charge for using a credit card.

  2. I got a mani/pedi here two weeks ago. It’s super clean, the owner is lovely and also owns a restaurant in Echo Park. My manicure lasted close to two weeks and my pedi is still going on strong. It’s much better than Harmony, which smells like acetone.

  3. Can not say enough good things about this place! Got stuck in traffic on Glendale Saturday, and decided to stop in. 2 hours of pure bliss, and my nails look amazing. I love their selection of lacquers – not a bad hue in the lot.

  4. I live in the area and want to try out this new place. Like the update looks but not very satisfying with the technicians. Seems very unskillful, lack of cleanliness and not very attentive. I want a pamper experience not going to walmart!!

  5. The ‘Veronica’ post above is obviously a comment from a competing salon, as she is certainly not describing Kure.

This nail salon is the best! After coming here five times, I can say that it is beautiful, serene and welcoming. The receptionist always remembers my name, the owner is charming and the technicians very efficient and pleasant. It is, hands down, the most pleasant and spotlessly clean place to go for a mani-pedi. If you’re lucky, they may even offer you a Mimosa!
