The L. A. Weekly published a post this week on The Five Best Music Videos Shot in Echo Park, with a list that includes a 2011 “Warpaint” video shot underwater at the Echo Park  Deep Pool and Madonna break dancing under the Beverly Boulevard viaduct in the 1984 “Borderline” production.  But perhaps the Weekly is willing to consider adding a sixth video to the list, a 1960s-era  Scopitone film shown below featuring singer Jody Miller and a group of bikini-clad women as they dance and sing their way around Echo Park Lake.

The 16mm film was made to be presented on a Scopitone or “film juke box” that played records and displayed films that some consider precursors to music videos.  So, move over Madonna, it’s time to make room for Jody Miller on that list of best Echo Park music videos.

  2. Oh, snap my mom! Na, that what she looked like back in the day though, straight swagging it!

  3. First 28 seconds of that vid is where I use to live on the 2nd floor of that apt building for 15 years, now all thats left is that hideous tree. I wish they would of left that nice building up, next door is what the old church use to look like also in the first 10 sec of the vid, where the ugly colored Episcopal church is now.

those good old days are gone.

  4. It was a simpler time…
