Atwater thieves target pricey Mercedes-Benz mirrors

Police are looking for thieves in the Atwater Village area who have set their sights on the expensive side view mirrors attached to Mercedes-Benzes.  The side view assist mirrors, which alert the driver when another vehicle enters their blind spot, can be sold for up to $500 each, according to a Community Alert posted on the Facebook page of the Northeast Division.

Police are looking for two suspects described as White males, one with with a light beard; the other with a long pony tail.  “Suspects approached victim’s vehicle and removed the actual  mirror from the driver and passenger side mirror housing,” said the Community Alert. “Suspects fled location on foot with property.”

The alert did not  say how many mirrors may have been stolen but said the suspects have targeted the higher-end of Mercedes-Benz line.
