Bulletin Board: L.A. Bike and Ped Count looking for volunteers in Eastside locations

We’re trying to get the word out at Los Angeles Walks and Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition  about volunteering for the 2013 Bike and Ped Count on September 10 and 14.  Biking and walking make up 19% of the trips in the county but only 1% of the transportation funding… and 39% of the crashes. Meaning that the more we can demonstrate this kind of activity is happening, the more likely we are to get bike and walking projects funded that make the streets safer. The city counts the cars every single day but the only way to get accurate counts for cyclists and walkers is through this volunteer effort!

Volunteers are needed in Lincoln Heights, Boyle Heights, Echo Park, Northeast LA and other parts of the city.  Click on the link below to sign up.

  1. Great, a bunch of bike activists who want cars eliminated and all the streets turjned over the bikes are going to go out and make up numbers of how we have a massive amount of people biking, regular traffic jams of bikers, and huge increases over the past year.

Sure, that’s believable, rather than what I see with my own eyes, that there are hardly any bikers on the street at all. And if this “count” were honest, that is what it would show. But instead, this group always comes out with a report about high numbers of bikers all over, and the number of increase just soaring.
