Fire damages Silver Lake apartment building*

Fire video above by Ryan Wehner

Firefighters took about 30 minutes to put out a blaze that broke out tonight in a two-story Silver Lake building at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Coronado Street. The blaze began at about 10 p.m. at 2502 Sunset Boulevard, a building with shops on the ground floor and apartments above. No injuries were reported, according to the LAFD Twitter feed.

There was no information available on what caused the blaze. Traffic on Sunset Boulevard was blocked while firefighters were putting out the fire, according to one motorist.

  1. Just heard that this building may be going through the abatement process with the city taking possession due to criminal activity. Does anyone know how that works? Also can someone buy it from the owners before it gets impounded by the city? It seems like a prime investment opportunity.

    • Interesting. Noticed they’ve been fixing this building up lately – repairing cracks in the walls, painting, etc.

Does the city own it now – or did they sell it to someone? Great corner building. Nice to see it getting some love.
