Gabriela Charter  in Echo Park was ranked as the state’s second  best charter elementary/middle school  in a USC study that also placed charter campuses serving Boyle Heights, Eagle Rock,  Historic Filipinotown and Lincoln Heights on its top 10 list.

For the first time, the USC School Performance Dashboard, which was released today, includes Top 10 lists for charter schools at both the elementary/middle school and high school levels. “The report draws on data from 2005 to 2012 to rate charter schools across multiple measures of financial health and academic performance, including state test scores and classroom spending,” according to a USC press release.

The top 10 list of best elementary/middle schools included KIPP Los Angeles College Preparatory (No. 4) in Boyle Heights and Endeavor College Prep (No. 8), which serves Boyle Heights and Lincoln Heights.

On the high school level, Camino Nuevo Charter High in Historic Filipinotown came in at the No. 7 position while Renaissance Arts Academy in Eagle Rock was ranked No. 10.
