Eastside Property: How much would you pay for a view of The Eagle Rock?

Eagle Rock rises in the distance behind Figueroa Street home

At the northern end  of Figueroa Street, just above the 134 Freeway, sits a block of 1950s, Ranch-style homes with head-on views of The Eagle Rock, the landmark peak that rises a short distance away across a canyon.  One of the homes, a four-bedroom, three-bath property, has recently come on the market.  There’s an open floor plan, new appliances and a pool on the nearly one-third acre lot, according to the Redfin listing.  The home and neighboring properties, however, are  located right above Scholl Canyon Road, which is the main route leading to the Scholl Canyon Landfill  higher up in the hills.  Still, there is a hard-to-match view of Eagle Rock. Says the listing:

The property features two large backyard areas, one with a large enclosed sparkling pool and spa off of one of the master bedrooms, and a second area to the rear of the property with great views of the hills and The Eagle Rock literally.

How much for an Eagle Rock view? The flippers who purchased the home for $599,000 last month are now asking $799,000.

  1. Next to a LAND FILL!!??? Not to mention seems a bit too close to the freeway getting all the noise and exhaust fumes. Not worth it in my opinion.

    • what???!!! $200,000 in a month? the mark up seems a bit much for a months worth of remodeling. and how about that ‘makeshift’ dump that is magically growing? super noisy for sure besides the 134 with all those dump trucks up and down the hill.

  2. Looks like another granite countertop/stainless steel appliance flip job…yawn…

  3. I looked at house up there last year. Neighborhood seemed super white trashy and creepy. Lots of methy campers parked along Fig. Plus, it’s next to the landfill and a freeway interchange. No thx.
