Neighbor warns of burglaries north of Sunset

NeighborhoodWatchLogoThe Eastsider reported last week about a spike in burglaries across the southern sections of Echo Park and Silver Lake below Sunset Boulevard. But a crime tip from an Echo Park woman shows that those living  north of Sunset are not immune from burglaries.

She reports that her friend’s gold jewelry was taken during a Monday (Oct. 21) morning burglary in the 2100 block of Avon Street in the Elysian Heights section of Echo Park. The burglar or burglars bashed in the front door and then went through top shelves of closes, shoe boxes and lingerie drawers – “all the places ladies hide jewelry,” she said.

Only gold jewelry was taken, silver items were left behind, she said.

The Monday burglary was the only such crime to take place in Echo Park north of Sunset during the last week, according to CrimeMapping.com

However,  in Silver Lake, five burglaries were reported in the north end of the neighborhood during the same period.

  1. You can add one more attempted to that list, I saw the perp in action trying to steal some bikes in my backyard last night and chased him off my property at 11:30pm at Kensington Rd and La Verne in Angelino Heights. They operate as a gang off of Echo Park Blvd, I’ve seen them before. Everyone keep their eyes out for them, they are getting desperate. Suspect was about 17-23 years of age, shaved head with mustache, tall lanky build, baggy jeans and shirt.
