Echo Park pedestrian injured in hit-and-run*

collisionA man was in serious but stable condition after he was struck Monday night by a hit-and-run driver while walking across Temple Street in Echo Park.

The victim, who is expected to survive his injuries, was in a crosswalk at Temple Street and Patton Street when he was struck by a westbound vehicle at about 9:13 p.m., said Lt. Lydia Leos with the Central Traffic Bureau. The vehicle did not stop and then headed southbound on Laveta Terrace. Leos had no further details about the incident, which is under investigation.

* Update: The vehicle may have been either a Kia SUV or Acura with a damaged front-end, according to a City News Service story on Patch.
