It took about 20 minutes for fire crews to put out a fire that broke out tonight in a one-story house in the  1700 block of Effie Street. LAFD said no one was injured in connection with the blaze that was reported shortly after 8 p.m. One resident said the blaze may have been caused by an electric heater but that could not be confirmed with the fire department.

Effie Street west of Echo Park Avenue remained closed off as of 9:30 p.m. as fire trucks and equipment remained on the scene.

  1. Heartbreaking. Hope the family rebounds quickly.

  2. I think a tree fell on this house about 2 years ago. Very sad.

  3. Yep, same place.
