A Saturday morning of coffee and bird watching

A group of bird watchers began their day on Saturday with a visit to Elysian, an Elysian Valley pop-up cafe, before heading out in search of feathered friends along the L.A. River. Jeff Chapman, director of the Audubon Center at Debs Park, served as guide while Martha Benedict snapped photos of the birds and the sights along the river. Said Benedict:

Bike people whizzed past as Jeff explained what we were seeing. Birding takes patience, he said. However, there wasn’t much waiting as we spotted shore birds, ducks, a Phoebe, “feral” pigeons, a Great Blue Heron, some coots and more.

Visit birdla.org for the bird watching tour on the river and other parts of Los Angeles.
