Man killed in Boyle Heights drive-by shooting

One man was killed Friday night after he was shot by suspects who opened fire from a passing vehicle in the 600 block of north Fickett Street in Boyle Heights.   The victim, a male Latino, died from his injuries after being transported to a hospital, according to LAPD Officer Sally Madera.

Hollebeck Division Capt. Martin Baeza described the homicide, the first this year in Boyle Heights, as gang related in a Twitter update  Friday night. But police today had no further details about the motive or victim. The suspects remain at large.

  1. This is a bad start to the year. There was another shooting on the same street the very next night, possibly for retaliation.

    Boyle Heights is still hood.

I don’t think anyone has been arrested in either shootings.

  2. One block over from where I live. Not a good sign for 2014.
