Echo Park is all wet*

Traffic lights out at Sunset Boulevard and Echo Park Avenue

Some traffic lights are out on Sunset Boulevard , storm drains are backing up and water is puddling up everywhere in Echo Park.  In addition to traffic signal problems, about 1,600 LADWP customers in Echo Park are without power. So, what else do you expect when it rains in L.A.?

A large tree was blocking Stadium Way in Elysian Park at about 3 p.m. | Jennifer Deines

2 P.M. Power Outage Update: LADWP reports that the number of Echo Park customers without power has fallen to 698. The outage appears to have hit primarily businesses and homes on or along Sunset Boulevard, east of Echo Park Avenue. Meanwhile, in El Sereno, another 35 LADWP customers were without power at 2 p.m.

Two dogs and a man were rescued this morning from the L.A. River near Cypress Park.
