SILVER LAKE — Last year Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that his family was moving out of their five-bedroom Silver Lake home and into Getty House, the official mayoral mansion in Windsor Square. So what happened to Garcetti’s Silver Lake home?  It’s now up for rent at $8,500.  The rental listing on the MLS does not make mention of the Hidalgo Street home’s mayoral connection but does play up its “gorgeous lake views” and a “Chef’s Kitchen:

Beautifully proportioned additional 3 bedrooms on the other floors for you to individualize your lifestyle. Au pair? In-laws? Assistant? Convenient deck accessibility to enjoy full on lake views and dreamy sunsets. Peaceful yard. Direct access garage entry. Stroll to Gingergrass, the Library, the Reservoir, the Meadows and Silver Lake Wine!

The L.A. Times describes the home as a “boxy contemporary” built in 2010.

  1. why would anyone pay $8500 to live here?

  2. Someone with that much cash flow Can Not be in touch with ‘The People’

  3. Goes to show how much $ these government officials are making if he can afford to pay $8K a month on mortgage!

    • Although the mayor does pretty good, Garccetti is old money (not super old, but about 3 generations or so). Went to Harvard-Westlake, Columbia, Oxford… was a professor / teacher before going into politics.
He lived the life of the learned gentleman before deciding to wallow into the muck of politics…

  4. Perhaps he should do Airbnb he could do better and avoid that nasty rent control thing.
