An approximately one-acre brush fire broke out late this afternoon in the L.A. River channel near Los Feliz Boulevard, according to ABC7.  A water dropping helicopter doused the flames but no details were available about what triggered the blaze, which was first spotted at about  5 p.m., or how long it took to put it out.   The fire appeared to have burned a portion of a small island in the middle of the riverbed, according to Twitter user @Tara.
