Lotus Festival returns to Echo Park Lake this summer

ECHO PARK — Remember the Lotus Festival, with its sprawling mass of food and craft vendors, Dragon Boat races, Asian-themed music and dance shows and fireworks displays that would gobble up Echo Park Lake for a weekend in July?  The last festival, which celebrates Asian-Pacific cultures and the blooming of the lake’s lotus bed, was held three years ago just before the lake and park closed for a two-year-long clean up.  Echo Park Lake reopened last year but the festival was called off to give the newly planted lawns and shrubbery time to get established and withstand the throngs that descend on the park during the festival weekend.  This July, however, the lake will once again host the Lotus  Festival, which is scheduled to be held on July 12 & 13.

So, what’s on tap for this year’s festival. Well, besides a colorful poster (see below) and a Facebook page, the are no other details readily available. Stay tuned.

  1. Fantastic to see this festival is coming back. Also notice the chemtrails in the image… seems like they are everywhere almost 24/7.

  2. We have been getting sprayed with the chem trails almost daily… they have really ramped up the bioengineering the passed few weeks.

  3. Great maybe I’ll become a super hero with all biohazard spraying yayayayayayay

  4. Is there going to be fireworks this year?

  5. Too bad they used an image of a waterlily on the poster, but happy to see the success of the replanted lotuses.

  6. The chem trails are real and no longer conspiracy. Scientists have admitted to this atmospheric manipulation in various articles. Do some reading and less gaming. Hooray for lotus festival!!!

  7. Are there really lots of Lotus flowers now? Please let me know ASAP so I can decide if I should go to the festival this weekend or not. Thanks.

  8. I need fresh and new information on the outcome of the Festival this year – 2014. I need info like how many people visited the park for the two day festival. I’m doing a report on this festival – since I was one of booths I need to make a report on the # of people who visited the park for the two days.
