- An Amber Alert was issued Friday after the father of a two-year-old Boyle Heights boy violated a restraining order by driving off with the boy from the 1000 block of Lorena , reports ABC7. The vehicle was found in East L.A. but the father and son were not located.
- The police pursuit of an allegedly stolen vehicle that began in Lincoln Heights ended when the car crashed and overturned on the 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights, according to City News Service. The driver was in stable condition.
- Carolyn Ramsay, Chief of Staff for Councilman Tom LaBonge, has taken a leave of absence to focus on her campaign to replace her boss as representative of the Fourth Council District, which includes Los Feliz and Silver Lake.
- Who says filling potholes is a man’s job ? An all-female pothole filling brigade – officially known as a Small Asphalt Repair crew – was at work this week in Mount Washington. Martha Benedict snapped a shot of Aida Valencia, Street Services Supervisor and her crew, Joyce Robinson and Carolyn Davis, as they filled holes on Museum Drive. “Joyce raked and leveled the steaming asphalt and Carolyn compressed and smoothed it with an incredibly loud machine,” said Benedict. Aida worked quality control and protected her team from drivers who sped by with alarming abandon.”
