ECHO PARK –  A nearly brand new vehicle driving up a hilly Echo Park street began to smoke and then burst into flame after the driver pulled over to the side of the road, according to a resident.

Firefighters were called to the 1800 block of Lemoyne Street after the vehicle,  a Honda Pilot,  caught fire at about 9:40 p.m.  The driver, a man from Burbank, told an Echo Park resident that he was visiting a friend in Echo Park when his seven-month old car caught fire.
