And this doesn’t include such reported crimes of other theft, like the Catalytic Converter that was cut out of my ’99 4Runner and at least one other’s on Descanso (costing over $2K), since that is neither a break-in or an auto theft. Nor does it include the increase in garage break-ins in our neighborhood which affect our autos and insurance, but are not reported as such (tires stolen, garage door openers, house keys, etc.). And the damage that ensues. How much more crime needs to happen in our Silver Lake neighborhood before something will be done about it? I’m looking at you LAPD, get out of your cars and check down the stairs and behind those bushes. The far & few between drive-thru’s obviously aren’t doing anything!

  2. N. Benton Way was also hit at around the same time, maybe a couple of days before this reporting week. Pretty brazen stuff – occurring in the wee hours, these thieves have no problem smashing into cars that are parked well up driveways.

  3. If you own a pick up truck be sure to lock your tailgate and add a security lock to hinges as well; my neighbor had hers stolen from her dodge ram a few nights ago in the highland park area.
