Morning Report: 16-year-old drowns in East L.A. pool; plaque honors Silver Lake gay rights landmark

News & Notes:

  • A 16-year-old Garfield High school student with autism drowned during a school field trip to a community swimming pool in East L.A., reports NBCLA.  The family of Erick Ortiz, who did not know how to swim, said they had granted permission for Ortiz to be taken to a park but not inside the pool.
