Morning Report: Man fatally shot in East L.A. restaurant; suspect arrested in 1980 Silver Lake killing; a drone’s-eye-view of Echo Park Lake

News & Notes:

  • A man was fatally shot inside an East L.A. Mexican seafood restaurant following an argument with another man, reports KTLA. The shooter and other persons who had been in the Whittier Boulevard restaurant, Rincon De Guyabitos #3,  drove off in a  SUV.
  • LAPD detectives used DNA evidence to arrest a man in connection with the 1980 murder of a Silver Lake woman, according to L.A. Now.  Harold Anthony Parkinson, who is serving a life sentence in connection with another murder, was served with an arrest warrant for allegedly beating and stabbing to death 36-year-old Stephanie Sommers in her apartment in the 3500 block of Marathon Street.
