News & Notes:

  • L.A. City Councilman Jose Huizar will propose a $50,000 reward for information leading to the return  of a 2-year-old boy kidnapped from  Boyle Heights last month, reports KTLA.  Authorities issued an Amber Alert after Edwin Vargas was allegedly kidnapped by his father, who was the subject of restraining order.
  • High School Senior: An 88-year-old Whittier man was among the students who received a diploma at this month’s Roosevelt High graduation, according to the Whittier Daily News.  Sidney Wald attended the  Boyle Heights school during the 1940s but  never received his diploma because he was drafted into the Navy three months before his graduation.
