Police searching for murder suspect in Echo Park [updated]

ECHO PARK — Police have closed off some streets near Bonnie Brae and Montrose Street  this morning as they search for a possible murder suspect, according to the LAPD.  Police began chasing the suspect  on foot near Bonnie Brae and Temple Street after they recognized him from a wanted poster, said a police spokesman. The murder was not recent but the spokesman had no further details about when and where the homicide took place.

Police squad cars were also spotted on Park Avenue near Sunset Boulevard as LAPD helicopters hovered overhead at about 11:30 a.m.

* Update @ 12pm: The suspect is in custody, according to @Rampart Division.

Update @ 11:45 a.m.: Police are preparing to block off additional streets, including Sunset Boulevard at Lemoyne Street
