From “Hangry” to Healthy

Sponsored Post

By Gabriela Nuñez

After working out at AAY! for about six months I felt that I was making progress, but I also knew there was room for improvement. I noticed that other members who were participating in the Nutrition Program were more fit, energetic & dedicated to consistent workouts.

While their results were inspiring, I was hesitant to sign up. I’m the type of person who becomes “hangry”—angry and unable to function when I haven’t eaten enough. So, I’ve never been able to diet, and I don’t do well when I feel like I’m depriving myself. However the participants of the program were looking so fantastic that I just had to give it a try.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that I never felt I was on a restrictive diet. Instead, I learned to how to nourish my body with healthful foods, shop for groceries efficiently, and plan & prepare healthful, delicious, simple meals.

The AAY! Nutrition Program is not a diet, but a lifestyle program that encouraged me to make healthy choices during all of life’s ups and downs: emotional hardships, celebrations, birthday parties, and eating out.

I learned how to combine the right amount of protein, carbohydrates, and vegetables for my meals and snacks to keep me satisfied. I also learned how to incorporate my favorite treats into my weekly meal plan and practice moderation.

Making lifestyle changes is never easy, but the AAY! Nutrition Program also provided the support to help keep me accountable to my eating plan and workout schedule. By the end of the program I was leaner, had more energy, and was sick less often.

It’s been two years since I first joined the Nutrition Program and I’m still incorporating all the healthy habits into my daily life. Of course, I’m human, so I’m not perfect all the time. But the beauty of AAY! is that they’ve created a healthy community that I still lean on whenever I need support to make healthy eating choices.
