Storefront Report: Echo Chamber brings creative DIY spirit to Echo Park

By Nathan Solis

ECHO PARK —  Echo Chamber will host a series of workshops and other events throughout the summer at the site of former music venue Echo Curio on Sunset Boulevard. Echo Chamber will act as a creative co-op with an emphasis on collaborations, and presenting the community art created locally.

The project is being helmed by artist Sarah Cisco and L.A. Zine Fest organizer Rhea Tepp. Their hope is to offer a place for active and semi-active artists to meet, mingle or what have you, and mesh all their ideas together in zines, music, or film. Though the Echo Chamber project is only planned for three months, the organizers hope that the success to start something new as they state on their Kickstarter page.

“Los Angeles is in need of dedicated spaces for independent artists, musicians, writers, makers, and dreamers. It is important, especially in a city so geographically spread apart, to put down our laptops and smart phones, and connect face to face.”

Opening night is July 3 with events throughout the summer.

Nathan Solis is a Highland Park resident who writes about and photographs the L.A. music scene. You can find more of Solis’ stories, reviews and photos at Avenue Meander.
